Don’t you just hate it when you find a beautiful piece of furniture that you simply can’t fit anywhere? Or when you feel like you own too many things for the size of your home? We all struggle sometimes with lack of space. At these times, you must ask yourself if you actually utilize the empty spaces that you do have. Truth is, you probably don’t! Here are some ways to make areas of your home you never thought about functional!
Use your high ceilings to your advantage!
Your home is bigger than you thought! If you don’t have sq. ft. to spare, stack things on top of each other! Here is a great example - who needs an extra bedroom when you could put it right above your head?
Utilize empty stair space!
Your stariwell takes up a lot of space but only performs one simple function. But it could do so much more! You can fit so much underneath, be it storage space, a closet or even a bathroom!
Get rid of your bed! (for the day)
If you think about it, your bed takes up a lot of room but you only need it for the night. When you’re not using it, you could just fold it in and free up a ton of space for what is useful during the day, like a bookshelf or a couch!
Big dining table? No problem!
Featured below is a desk that slides out to become a table that fits 12 people! It was part of a New York City sponsored project for micro-apartments!
Here is another, equally cool idea! Introducing, the expandable table! It has an adjustable size, so whether you are inviting 4 people or 10, you have just the space you need!
Here is a link to a really cool video showing how it works!
Mirror, mirror on the wall….
The table turns into a mirror!!! Who says accessories can’t be functional?
Is your attic collecting dust?
Why not transform it into a family room or a bedroom?
Or maybe even the game room that you didn't have space for before?
Your have more room than you think! Sometimes you need to get creative, but there is always a way to make use of it!
